How is the Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks National Monument (OMDP) important to your business?
Salud de Mesilla is located right between the town of Mesilla and the City of Las Cruces, providing the perfect spot for both visitors to the area and residents to come in and enjoy our new American cuisine and original tapas dishes. Since the designation, we have seen firsthand how important OMDP is to our tourism industry.
Tourism is vital to our business and our overall economy and we believe as stewards of our public lands, it is our responsibility to share with our customers the recreational opportunities that exist just 25 minutes from our restaurant. Our team loves to have conversations with our guests about local attractions and about the adventures that are possible within the OMDP National Monument. They are great at showing the adventures in our area are truly limitless.
Many of our dishes include regional flavors like green chile, jalapenos, pecans, and more, giving our diners a unique experience while enjoying all the beauty that is southern New Mexico. We are especially proud of our popular OMDP Lemonade cocktail, featuring gin, lavender, and lemonade, providing a refreshing and savory beverage to enjoy after a day of hiking in OMDP.
How do you see OMDP benefiting the community?
We know we are not alone in seeing the economic benefits OMDP has brought to Las Cruces and Mesilla. Local restaurants and hotels have seen an increase in customers who, by their visitorship, help us keep people employed or increase our staff size, give back to local charities, and continue to support our community events. We are proud to be part of the constantly growing community of businesses who have joined us in supporting our monument and embracing all that our public lands have to offer.
