What does the Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks (OMDP) National Monument mean to you?
Since the designation, I have had clients call for more information after seeing my website, wanting to know more about our various tours in the National Monument. Because of the designation, and the different outdoor
sporting opportunities, I am now adding mountain bike tours and first aid /CPR and first aid/wilderness training to my business services. I attend outdoor expo’s in the region to highlight the Monument. Because of the
designation, my business has expanded into organizing custom excursions, tours, and activities. My business materials feature OMDP and I have worked with travel agents from Mexico to plan future tours. Through our tours, we are able to offer raft/kayak/ inner tube/mountain bike rentals at Leasburg Dam State park on the Rio Grande, which flows through the Monument.
What ways do you use the Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks in your business?
I have always been an avid outdoorsman. With my business, I now have the wonderful opportunity to share my knowledge and skills with my customers and help them explore the beauty that is throughout OMDP and the
southwest. Since the designation of the OMDPNM, I have had more opportunities to enjoy the different areas as I conduct research for future excursions for my business. I have been able to expand my tour opportunities
and events in the Monument and am already looking to develop more exciting excursions.
